Water Conservation Signage

Project Background

In Spring 2006 signs were designed and purchased as part of the Water Conservation Outreach plan. The signs were to be installed in residence hall bathrooms to encourage residents to conserve water. Another function of the signs was to provide a quick and easy method for students to report leaks or dripping faucets.

In Fall 2006 the dormitories were inspected to evaluate the implementation of the signs. For the most part, signs were present in student dormitories and in plain view. The dormitories without signs were East, West, and South.

"Residential students across campus have seen the appearance of new signs in their restrooms. Unlike other signs announcing floor meetings or advertising the weekend flick at the Student Union Theater, these signs ask residents to take a moment and check for leaky faucets and showerheads.

"The signs, featuring the slogan "Stop the Drop," have been installed in dormitory restrooms across campus by the Department of Residential Life
(ResLife) in an attempt to promote water conservation... "
