Recycling & Reuse

Solutions for many environmental problems may seem "out of reach" to individuals who want to make a difference. While it is easy to be overwhelmed by the scale and complexity of environmental concerns, one simple, everyday solution is to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Recycling makes a difference. Not only can recycling save valuable natural resources that go into making so many important products, but it can also help save energy, reduce waste, and prevent pollution that results when recyclables are not taken out of the waste stream. Without recycling, these materials end up at incinerators or landfills. Here at UConn, we are revitalizing our nearly 20-year old recycling program and are committed to continuously improving our rate of recycling.
