Proposed Sites


The following sites were selected by the Compost Facility Site Advisory Committee based on the environmental and operational criteria below:

Environmental Operational
Hydrography Rural or agricultural area but not active farmland
NDDB (avoid possible habitat for listed or endangered species) Not disrupting UConn research forest
Aquifer protection Low population density
Private & public well buffers Remote from residential development
Avoid slopes > 5% Low site development costs
DEP guideline for residential buffer Accessible year-round and centrally located
