Energy-Related Projects at UConn:

  

	Education & Outreach:           CFL Giveaways & Retrofits            EcoMadness Competition            Sustainable Office Guidelines
	UConn Cogeneration Facility      A 25 MW natural-gas fired cogeneration      facility supplies ~70% of the campus      electricity, heating and cooling needs.
	Center for Clean Energy Engineering      Established by the UConn School of      Engineering in 2001 for the research,      development and technology transfer of      innovative fuel cell technologies.
	Connecticut Biofuels Consortium      A multidisciplinary research unit that focuses on      the development of green energy technologies      ranging from carbon neutral, renewable fuels to      biological systems capable of digesting and      converting biomass into either hydrogen or      electricity.

2008-2009 Workgroup Initiatives:

• On November 19th, 2008, members of the the workgroup attended a showing of the "Green Laboratories: Resource Conservation in Research Settings" webcast.  The webcast was sponsored by the UConn Environmental Health & Safety Department and was held at the UConn Health Center Campus in Farmington, CT.  Numerous UCHC and Storrs campus faculty, staff and students were in attendance.  Workgroup members will be convening during the winter break to discuss how to potentially implement strategies discussed during the webcast at the UConn Storrs and the UCHC campuses.
