So how was the winner decided?


The winner was the building who saved the greatest percentage of water and energy per person as compared to consumption before the contest.


Although some dorms had lower total use than South B, their use was also lower before the contest meaning that South B put forth a stronger effort and ended up saving more overall.


And yes, the classroom space and conference rooms in South A were figured into our calculations! We simply reduced square footage and use of the building accordingly so that only water and energy used by resident was being taken into consideration.
