EcoHusky has teamed up with “Wind Over Wings” (http://www.windoverwings.org/) to bring a live animal show and discussion on how to protect these precious species. This is an event that you definitely don’t want to miss! Money given to them goes directly towards helping bird rehabilitation and admission is free!
EcoHusky Movie Night
Free movie at 7pm in the Student Union Theatre, “Kilowatt Ours”
According to the website:
Filmmaker Jeff Barrie offers hope as he turns the camera on himself and asks, “How can I make a difference?” In his journey Barrie explores the source of our electricity and the problems caused by energy production including mountain top removal, childhood asthma and global warming. Along the way he encounters individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities who are leading the way, using energy conservation, efficiency and renewable, green power all while saving money and the environment.
This often amusing and always inspiring story shows, “You can easily make a difference and here’s how!”
Check out the trailer for the movie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYNr81Iht2g&NR=1
There will also be a speaker from CL & P to give a brief overview of energy conservation!
Nuclear Energy Speaker
Ever wonder about nuclear energy? Whether it’s a good or bad thing? What are the implications? Allison Sparks from Clean Energy America (http://www.cleanenergy4america.org/) heads the discussion in the Student Union Theatre at 7pm. Admission is free!!
EcoHusky Harvest Fest and Organic Bake Sale
Come see what organic baking and local foods have to offer! Local farmers will be selling fresh produce, and EcoHusky will have delicious organic treats for sale.
All proceeds go towards EcoHouse!
Glow in the Dark Sports Tournament
Love sports and the environment? Turn off the dorm lights and come play glow in the dark Frisbee in a tournament on the Student Union Mall. Teams of six can sign up, and the winners receive a prize! E-mail Jacques at jakitopj@yahoo.fr to sign up your team!
EcoAwareness Day
Tired of people wasting all that energy (and your tuition money) by leaving lights on and pushing the handicap door buttons? Want to appreciate those who bike around campus instead of cramming our streets full of more cars? Today we’ll be hanging up eco-friendly signs and notes to remind people of how to save energy and to thank students who bike around campus. Look for these, and don’t forget to recycle the notes!
350.org Day of Action
This is a international day of action to raise awareness about reducing carbon emissions. The campaign stresses that 350 ppm is the maximum sustainable carbon concentration in the atmosphere -- but the earth is approaching 390 ppm! Please join us in this day of action as we wear our 350.org T-shirts and march around campus! If your student group would like to be involved, please e-mail ecohusky@gmail.com! We will be meeting at the Student Union Mall at 3:50pm.
