Which dorm can do it better in the dark?
We have a winner!
Congratulations to South B for winning the 1st Annual UConn Water & Energy Conservation Contest!
South B was able to lower their water and energy consumption by 6% throughout the duration of the contest!
Contest Details
Each building in Alumni and South will compete against each other to see who can conserve the most energy and water based upon their previous usage earlier this month. |
The contest was held from October 15, 2006 to
November 15, 2006. |
The building that has the largest percentage of energy and water saved per square foot of the building will be named the winner. The winning building will be based on a point system. Points are given based on water use per person and energy use per person as compared to data from before the contest. The building with the lowest number of points at the end of the contest will be named the winner. (If building X is in 1st place for water use and 5th place for energy use, the number of points given is 6) |

Why are we doing this competition?
|
By conserving energy, we can help reduce greenhouse gas and air pollution emissions into the atmosphere. |
Using less water means reducing our negative impact on the environment.
|
|
|
Because UConn runs entirely off of wells, UConn's water consumption has already contributed to drying up a stretch of the Fenton River during the dry season. |
