BE HEARD Coffee House

September 24, 2009 and February 25, 2010

Students wrote letters to administrators about environmental areas for improvement while enjoying live music and refreshments.

 

 

On September 24, 2009 and February 25, 2010 students joined to write letters to administrators addressing environmental concerns. The topics included: establishing an Environmental Studies B.A Degree, planting more trees on campus, and making the campus more bicycle-friendly.

350 Rally

October 23, 2010

350 is what many scientists agree on as the viable parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Currently carbon dioxide makes up 390 parts per million. This rally was part of a global initiative to spread awareness about the need to lower carbon emissions to reach the goal of 350 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Green Game Days

September 26, 2009, February 6, 2010, and September 11, 2010

This is an effort to promote recycling at athletic events. Volunteers hand out recycling bags, answer questions, and clean up recyclables after the game.

 

 

EcoHusky 5K Road Race
Sunday, April 11th 2010

Ecohusky's 5th Annual 5K Road race was a success with over 90 runners this year! Participants run a scenic route along Horse Barn Hill at UCONN, while also contributing to the Ecohusky Student Group and the Green Campus Fund!

Congratulations to our top female runner Lindsey Wallis and our top male runner John Sherman!

Earth Day Spring Fling 2010

This year we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day on Fairfield Way! The celebration included Mount Sneaker which is a truckload of donated sneakers, eco-friendly vendors sharing their products, free bicycle tune-ups and many other activities!
