Earth Kindness Day
The University of Connecticut's EcoHusky Student Group and the Office of Environmental Policy hosted Earth Kindness Day on Tuesday November 28th 2006 as part of UConn's Month of Kindness celebration. This event took place in the Student Union and outside on Fairfield Way.
Earth Kindness Day was aimed at raising awareness about environmental student groups as well sustainability initiatives on campus. Some of the groups in attendance included Ecohusky, EARTH to UConn, Ecogarden, PIRG Campus Climate Challenge, and the EPA P3 group currently working on a methane digester project. The featured sustainability initiative for the day was the production of biodiesel fuel from waste cooking oil from UConn's dining halls.

EcoHusky 5000 Road Race
The second annual EcoHusky5000 road race was held on April 1, 2007 and was a great success! We had over 80 runners and raised over $500 to be put towards environmental initiatives on the UConn campus. These may include purchasing on-campus can redemption machines or retro-fitting a bus stop with solar panels.
The on-going success of this race demonstrates EcoHusky's integral role within the UConn environmental community. We hope that in the coming years, the EcoHusky5000 will grow in popularity within the regional community and will help to raise money for many more environmental initiatives throughout the UConn campus.
